NATDA Trailer Report

This article is based on state registration data compiled by Statistical Surveys, Inc., which is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Statistical Surveys, Inc. (SSI) currently produces national retail sales statistics for the Recreational Vehicle, Marine, Manufactured Housing, and Trailer Industries. 

Due to data problems Arizona, Maine and Minnesota are NOT included in the data or in the National Totals.  Historical comparisons do not include these states.


Sales for the month of November declined 1.3 percent. For the first eleven months of 2011, sales are down 1.4 percent. The chart below shows the breakout by trailer type.

While overall sales are down, the percentages are getting close to even with those of 2010.

Here are the states with the best overall sales results for All Trailers for Jan-Nov 2011:

1          Oklahoma                               +41.9%
2          North Dakota                          +32.5%
3          Delaware                                +28.9%
4          Michigan                                 +15.0%
5          Nebraska                                 +11.8%
6          Tennessee                               +10.9%

Other states with increased sales this year are: Iowa and South Dakota.
November only showed slight declines, so perhaps the market is close to the bottom of the sales slump.
